Happy New Year – Kick it off with a new Personal Planner!

Happy New Year! I’m a little late with a blog update, mainly due to my own disorganisation and the fact that I’ve been in a little bit of a funk due to not having a job. But, as my Pilot predicted, things would get better in the new year – I have secured some temporary employment and hopefully something more permanent is on the horizon.

Now that I’m working, I’m taking steps to get organised with life again. Having a 5 month holiday from work has resulted in me not even knowing what day it is most of the time, let alone when I have appointments or when bills are due. I’ve gotten far too relaxed! I’ve got some goals that I would like to achieve this year (more baking for a start, this will be a reality now that I will have some income again!) and I’m not going to achieve them by being a disorganised mess…

What steps have I taken so far to get organised? First up, I’ve started making lists again. I find that writing out everything that I need to go helps me get things done. Mostly because i am horrified at the size of the list and don’t want it to grow any bigger. Secondly, I’ve ordered myself a Personal Planner from www.personal-planner.com.au – I’ve never kept a diary or planner before, but my Mother swears by hers and she not only gets everything done, but she never forgets anything!

Personal Planner

I’ve never been able to find a planner that I liked – they were either too ugly (boring leather cover in uninspiring colour), too little girly (I don’t want to have a diary covered in hearts at work) or filled with pages and pages of useless info that I just didn’t need! With my Personal Planner, i was able to select the planner size, colour, text and design on the front and back cover. The online design process was easy and it’s like having my own personal designer at my fingertips! The hardest part was picking my colours and deciding on a photo – I’ve chosen a photo of beautiful Phi Phi island for my front cover, taken on my recent holiday to Thailand. I love that every time I use my planner I will be reminded of my tropical holiday.

I also loved that there are options to personalise the inside – you can choose the layout and options that suit you – as I am a weather nerd, I’ve chosen to have a little box included so I can record the daily weather and so I can keep on track with my fitness campaign, a section to record what exercise I did. If you want to get really organised, you can even link your family & friends’ birthdays direct from Facebook. My favourite part – you could a section at the back of the planner with options like sudoku games, world maps or pages to write music – I was pretty torn between the maps and sudoku, but the maps won out – perfect for helping me choose my next holiday destination.

Create to do lists, once it’s in writing it seems so much easier to achieve.

Buy LOTS of baskets! Your house looks much nicer with all your necessary bits n bobs in baskets, neatly hidden away than it does with them all on display.

  10. Love the new blog. I was reading it on blogspot but didn’t know you have changed… so I wasn’t getting updates. D’oh!

  11. I’m really impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice quality writing, it’s
rare to see a great blog like this one nowadays.
